1st Day Check List
The first day of school is an exciting time for both teachers and students. Being organized and prepared for the first day of school is essential to beginning your year as an effective teacher. Wong states that for a successful teacher to be ready the work is ready, the room is ready and the teacher is ready (Wong & Wong, 2013).
To-do list before the 1st day of school
Clean and organize the room
- Organize desks and furniture
- Create a work area for the students
- Prepare the student area
- Decorate the bulletin boards, door, display classroom rules and expectations.
- Create the teacher area and teaching materials.
1st day of school
- Welcome Students into the Classroom
- Introduction of teacher and students
- Go over Classroom Rules and Expectations
- Go over School Rules and Expectations
- Classroom material scavenger hunt (Glue, Crayons, Scissors, Rulers, etc
- Specialist
- Lunch
- Icebreaker game- Roll the Dice Break the Ice
- Going home routine
- You have made it through the day!!!!
